It’s a still a pleasure for us when we find a hidden treasure, one of those properties that exceeds all our expectations.  If you’re in the market for a townhouse, in a centro storico, the ideal “lock & leave” property, we’ve just seen something to treasure..  It’s one of the best townhouses we’ve seen in years…from the hill-town that’s a treasure unto itself, to the look and feel of the townhouse, all the way through to the owner who has treasured every minute there.  We call this exceptional Marche property Townhouse Tesoro, where “tesoro” means “treasure”.

Townhouse Tesoro is the perfect representation of what you see in your mind when you imagine a townhouse in Le Marche.  It’s a treasure trove of all the characteristics you’re looking for in an in-town solution.  It’s built into the ancient wall of a beloved hill-top town.  The views from the panoramic terrace are spectacular.  The interior has masterfully integrated the look and feel of a contemporary living space with lots of rustic and original features.  And, you don’t have to find a treasure chest to pay for it either, as the asking price is reasonable and reachable for almost any budget.

Let’s start with the natural treasures of Townhouse Tesoro – the views.  The townhouse, given where it’s set in the ancient perimeter wall, is south-facing.  It has full-day sun which provides the natural light that pours into the townhouse.  From the panoramic terrace and all the south-facing windows, the views are spectacular, best-in-class.  Rolling hills, sunflower fields, fields of grain and the impressive Sibillini Mountains in the backdrop.

While we’re admiring the views, we need to admire the terrace from which you will enjoy them.  It’s ideal and it’s found over two levels, a main one and a smaller upper one.  The main terrace is nestled into the stone walls.  It’s complimented by an ancient arch, a treasure preserved from a long-gone building, that today is a fantastic architectural touch that compliments the terrace.  At the table here you can enjoy a morning cappuccino with fresh baked goods from the piazza, a late afternoon apperitivo and al-fresco dinners that start with the impressive sunsets.  It’s also a great spot for sunbathing or just doing nothing.  There is also has some outdoor storage space here.  You will see in the property tour video, too, that the terrace is very private and not overlooked by any traffic.  Also, all along the face of the building, there are hanging grapevines that provide some cooling shade and some perfect accents to the views.  Note, too, that Townhouse Tesoro has a small cantina, ideal for storing olive oil and wine.  Locals say that historically it was referred to as the village refrigerator!

In our visits to Townhouse Tesoro we marvel at the peace and quiet and sometimes forget that we’re at an in-town property.  Part of that is due to the fact that nobody lives next door and there is a tiny plot of land, owned by the village that’s on the other side of the house.

Moving inside at Townhouse Tesoro there’s more treasure to be discovered.  This time it’s all about good design and good taste.  As we mentioned before, Townhouse Tesoro has succeeded where many others have failed in seamlessly and tastefully creating a contemporary living space with original touches and architectural elements.  It’s striking and surprising as you enter into the main living space.  Mind you, you have just left the terrace and the old, modest stone and brick-faced exterior of Townhouse Tesoro and you enter this big, bright open space with high ceilings, big floor tiles, contemporary kitchen, unique fireplace, views from every window and more, all of which contribute to a sense of wellbeing at Townhouse Tesoro!

The main living space is one big open one.  To one side there’s the kitchen.  In the center are the dining area and lounge area, with fireplace.  Off to the back are two open doorways that lead to a second lounge and the main bathroom.  The second lounge area can also be used as a remote-office space.  The sofa-bed in that space ups the sleeping capacity at Townhouse Tesoro to 6 people.  The bathroom here is spacious and well-appointed and has a combination bath and shower.

From this space you head downstairs to the bedrooms via a sleek, floating staircase.  One is a big bedroom with iron beamed ceilings that’s used as the master bedroom.  The other, with pocket doors to close it off for privacy, is the guest bedroom.  There are arched multi-panel glass doors across the southern wall of this floor.  Natural light is in abundance.  There are exposed original stone walls and some very old brick works that are architectural accents.  Also on this floor is the second bathroom, this with a shower.

Let’s take a quick break and list for you some of the basics at Townhouse Tesoro that may not fall into the “treasure” category, but you need them all the same!  Radiator gas heating that is connected to the village lines, meaning much lowers costs and no need to refill.  The roof was insulated during the townhouse restoration.  The boiler was recently replaced.   Perfectly good internet connection is present as are a clothes washer and dryer.  All the windows have insect screens.

Now, let’s turn to the village.  Monte San Martino is a classic hill-town that foreigners tend to treasure.  People feel welcome here and they build relationships here.  It’s quaint and quite panoramic and is dotted with places to eat, a couple of bars and basic shopping and services.  The restaurants range from classic and traditional to a new one called Le Segrete, that people are raving about.  It’s a village known also for art, music and culture.  For a small Marche village it’s a place that’s remarkably vibrant and alive.  When you decide leave Monte San Martino, bustling Sarnano is 15 minutes away, as is quaint Amandola.  Also nearby is the San Ruffino Lake where you can enjoy a refreshing swim as well as enjoy a meal, lakeside, at any of restaurants there.  Townhouse Tesoro is around 35-40 minutes two provincial capitals – Macerata and Ascoli Piceno, it’s 50 minutes from the Adriatic Coast and 25 minutes to the Sibillini Mountains.  Airports to consider for arrival include Ancona, Perugia and Pescara, as well as Rome and Bologna.

Finally, we refer back to our earlier reference to treasure chests.  At Townhouse Tesoro you don’t need one to afford this VERY reasonably priced property, within reach of almost every budget level.

So, if you’d like to discover treasure in Le Marche, Townhouse Tesoro is yours to treasure.
